Since the majority of the weekend was spent indoors due to the excessive rain, I did some bird watching. Making sure the feeders were refilled and some oranges set out, I went on with the indoor activities. Getting some initial advice from Wild Birds Unlimited last year I started putting out Safflower seeds instead of  the bulk sunflower seeds in stores to attract finches more than the not so colorful varieties. Now hearing that grape jelly works better than oranges for Orioles, I’ll have to try that next.

I’ve been reading some comments on how to protect the camera from getting wet. So far the best solution seems like a Glad trash bag and rubber bands over the hood and view finder… oh yeah and an umbrella!  I can always hope for a break in the weather but it’s suppose to rain all day. Kids are playing a soccer game today.
